I always been amazed at how much poor legislation gets through the forensic challenge of such an intelligent and committed bunch of legislators. The answer of course is that most have never had a proper job. They seem to move seamlessly from nappy to grave being nothing more than MPs, bag carriers or policy advisers. And their policy advice is based on their experience of, err, giving policy advice.Horshamitenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329300544060491287.post-54050205669687538312010-08-12T21:56:52.590+01:002010-08-12T21:56:52.590+01:00Oh, good God. The constituents in social housing who seem to have the biggest struggle anyway are those who are on low incomes, but who don't qualify for full Housing Benefit, or are just over the threshold for HB. Which rather begs a question as to how any of this encourages aspiration (although I have to admit that this was an issue under Labour too...)Polly James (aka Molly Bennett)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10997400503233527235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3329300544060491287.post-51252543274887380812010-08-12T21:42:29.945+01:002010-08-12T21:42:29.945+01:00Tory housing policy even more contradictory than y...Tory housing policy even more contradictory than you think. It is their stated aim to allow council/housing association tenants the right to purchase 'equity stakes' in their otherwise rented homes. So you can keep your home and have security if you are really poor, or doing really well, just woe betide if you happen to fall somewhere in the middle.Jennynoreply@blogger.com
